To help people experiencing homelessness comply with Portland’s new daytime camping ban Blanchet House is asking the public to donate wheeled bags or a wheeled suitcase in good working order to distribute to its guests. People affected by the new ordinance need a way to pack and transport their belongings to access services during the day like Blanchet House’s free cafe. Many people experiencing homelessness in Portland are elderly, and have one or more physical disabilities or chronic illnesses which can make transporting their belongings difficult.

If you are able to donate a wheeled bag or wheeled suitcase please drop it off at Blanchet House during donation hours Monday to Saturday, 8-10:30 a.m. or 1:30-4 p.m. Donated suitcases must be in good working order, Blanchet House cannot accept broken items.

You can also purchase new wheeled bags from our Amazon wish list here.
