How do I donate food?
We accept large quantities of fresh, unexpired, and soon-to-expire food. Learn how we are helping to feed those in need while protecting our environment from needless waste. Do you have questions about food donation liability?
- Most fruits, vegetables, meats, dry goods, and spices are needed in bulk.
- We cannot accept partially eaten or served catered meals. Catered trays must be unopened and unserved.

How can I donate money?
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization we rely on the generosity of donors like you to operate our services to the community. Your donation will go to fund our meal and housing programs. There are many ways to donate.
How do I donate sack lunches?
This is a fun and meaningful project to do at home with your kids or friends. You can make as few as 10 or as many as 100 lunches containing a sandwich, piece of fruit, and wrapped snack.

VOLUNTEER QUESTIONS
How do I sign up to volunteer?
Sign up using our quick and easy online scheduling software.
Is there a minimum age requirement to volunteer?
Yes, you must be 14 or older to volunteer. For more details, please contact volunteer@blanchethouse.org.
I need to perform court-mandated volunteer service. Can I volunteer?
We do not accept court-mandated volunteers unless enrolled in a certified program. Please contact volunteer@blanchethouse.org.
I need to perform service hours for school. Can I volunteer?

What safety protocols have you enacted to lessen the spread of COVID-19?
In order to keep everyone safe and healthy all volunteers, visitors, staff, and residents must follow COVID-19 safety protocols carefully. These protocols follow the most current CDC recommendations. As you know, there are members of our community who fall into high-risk health categories so we need to be extremely cautious.
Do I need to wear a mask if I come to volunteer?
Safety is a priority at Blanchet and we want you to feel safe and healthy too. Masks are optional and up to you to decide. We have a limited number of masks to provide volunteers so please bring your own.
What do I do if I have a last-minute conflict and I can’t make it to my volunteer shift?
Please contact volunteer@blanchethouse.org immediately. Please try to give us 24 hours notice if you can.
Can I bring friends or family to volunteer with me?
Every volunteer must fill out a profile on our website, read all safety protocols, and sign waivers before service. We can only accommodate a limited number of volunteers at each meal service so everyone must sign up before arrival. Please contact volunteer@blanchethouse.org with further questions.

MEAL PROGRAM QUESTIONS
What time do you serve meals?
We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner six days a week. Everyone is welcome to dine in our cafe. No questions asked.

What kind of food do you serve?
Our professional chefs prepare delicious, balanced hot meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- All ingredients are donated or purchased from the Oregon Food Bank.
- We cannot accommodate dietary restrictions because we do not have the capacity to make a variety of meals.
- You are welcome to get in line for more servings. There is no limit.
- Everyone is served the same plate of food to ensure equity.
- We offer bagged lunches to take with you on Saturdays in addition to the hot meal.
CLOTHING QUESTIONS
Where can I get clothing, a blanket, a tent or tarp?
Individuals in need of clothing or other items can ask during one of our three daily meal services. We do not always have needed items but we will check. Designated clothing handout days:

Due to COVID-19 precautions, we are being very careful with accepting clothing donations. If you would like to donate clothing, please reach out to info@blanchethouse.org before starting a clothing collection.
RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM QUESTIONS
How do I get into Blanchet House?
Requirements for entry
- Phone interview with a Case Manager
- Negative U/A test (except THC)
- Willingness to lead a life free of drugs and alcohol
- Willingness to follow residential program requirements and expectations
- Ability to perform duties in kitchen/dining and residential facilities
- In-person interview with the residential program manager
- Background check free of sex offenses/arson/recent violent offenses (convictions/pending charges)
- Complete a 3-7 day working trial

How many people live at Blanchet House?
Blanchet House Residential Program as space for up to 50 men to stay. Vacancy varies daily. Please contact our Case Manager Kristi Katzke at 503-241-4340 for an intake interview.
Can I have a job and live at Blanchet House?
During the first 90 days, all residents work six days a week at their assigned tasks onsite. After successfully completing 90 days residents can look for work away from the House while continuing to live, eat, and attend meetings there.
Can I use drugs or drink alcohol and live at Blanchet House?
Blanchet House is a strict sober program. We do not allow cannabis, kratom, or any controlled substances to be consumed while a resident of our program. Prescription medications must be approved by our case managers.

What kind of animals are at Blanchet Farm?
Pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, dogs, and cats are kept at the farm for therapeutic purposes. Residents of the farm program care for the animals.
Can I bring my pet or car?
No, for the health and safety of all our residents we do not allow pets to accompany you.
No, we do not have space to store vehicles or to provide parking.
