New & Returning Volunteers

Thank you for considering Blanchet House and our programs as a volunteer opportunity in Portland. Compassionate people are needed to:

  • Serve meals and drinks in the cafe. (M-Sat)
  • Sort donated clothing. (M-Sat)
  • Help at the women’s shelter. (Daily)

To sign up to volunteer, you will create a profile, then choose shifts using Virtuous VOMO.

Health & Safety

We strive to provide a safe and supportive dining space for everyone. Please read the Volunteer Handbook before serving.

  • MASKS: Masks are optional. Please bring your own if you wish to wear one.
  • GLOVES: Gloves are required, and we will provide you with a pair.
  • SHOES: Closed-toed shoes are required to volunteer in the cafe.
  • HAIR: Long hair must be tied back.

Volunteer in Portland at Bethanie’s Room

Our overnight women’s shelter, Bethanie’s Room, in NW Portland is seeking volunteers to help with a variety of tasks and donations.

Location: 1015 NW 17th Ave, Portland, OR
Drop-off Hours: 5:30-6:30 p.m., 7 nights a week

Volunteering is good for your employees, business, and community! Blanchet House workplace giving programs are designed to bring people together. Plus, they provide aid and hope for our neighbors in need. You can choose to serve on-site or find activities to do off-site.

Volunteer From Home

Beyond volunteering, there are many ways you can help people experiencing homelessness now. For example, you can volunteer to make hygiene care kits, sign up to make sack lunches, or donate needed clothing today. You can also donate needed funding.
