2011 - Blanchet House Breaks Ground
On Thursday, September 15, Commissioner Nick Fish spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Blanchet House located at 310 NW Glisan next door to the original building. The new building will provide more space including a larger kitchen and three floors of residential rooms with a central shared bathroom, laundry, and community room on each floor.
The building’s design serves to enhance the surrounding historic Old Town/Chinatown neighborhood and provide a positive, supportive space for the people who will use it on a daily basis. SERA architects took design cues from the nearby buildings by adding balconies with details referencing the nearby Chinese Garden.
