April O’Connor

April joined the Blanchet House team in December of 2020. She loves the freedom and challenge of cooking with varying donated ingredients. To her it’s like playing Iron Chef every day. “I’m proud that I can say that I feed several hundred (mostly houseless) guests daily. It’s satisfying to be able to fill an immediate need by getting warm food into the bellies of those with few other options,” April shared.

A couple fun facts about April are that she was sous chef at a breakfast restaurant for 8 years and that she’s known for her variety of fun socks. In her spare time she enjoys painting, making assemblages, sewing, and doing puzzles. She also owns two cockatiels, two cats, and three chickens, all of which regularly get scrap treats from the kitchen.
