My name is Duke (he/they)! I started my journey as a queer youth runaway. After finding stability in Portland, I started volunteering at local nonprofits such as City Team and Rose Haven. Eventually, I started working with nonprofits as shelter staff, then graveyard shift, and then case management.
Now I utilize my lived experience as a Peer Support Specialist to connect my peers experiencing houselessness to resources, support them in their recovery journey, and provide emotional support for the traumas they experience.
