Scott Kerman has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and governance in Portland. Before joining Blanchet House in August 2019, Scott enjoyed a long career in education, first as a teacher and adjunct college professor and then in school leadership. This followed a brief career as a criminal defense attorney, which was preceded by his participation in Teach for America.
Scott received a BS in Political Science from Santa Clara University, a BA in English from Washington State University, an MA in English from Portland State University, and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Portland Business Journal named Scott a 2022 Nonprofit Executive of the Year for his extraordinary leadership during the COVID pandemic. In 2024, Scott was honored by Santa Clara University with the Ignatian Award, which publicly recognizes those Santa Clara University alumni who live the SCU ideals of competence, conscience, and compassion, and have been a credit to the Alumni Association and the university through outstanding achievement in their service to humanity.
