Blanchet House offers three-month internships throughout the year. The internship program provides students and others with a hands-on experience. We show you how a nonprofit is run, the daily tasks that go into managing a nonprofit, and have you help out with necessary organizational and administrative tasks, social media, fundraising campaigns while taking their future interests into consideration and providing each student with a personal mentor and guide throughout the duration of their internship. The internships are unpaid and require a time commitment of 5 to 8 hours a week. We offer school credit. It’s our goal to provide smart, curious people experience in the fundamentals of running a social service nonprofit agency in Portland. Strong communication skills and ability to take direction are a must.

We have five categories of internships. When applying please note which internship you are most interested in and qualified for.

  • Photography and Video Intern
    Qualifications: Portfolio (Instagram or Web), Equipment
  • Website Development Intern
    Qualifications: Working knowledge of WordPress CMS, HTML & CSS
  • Graphic Design Intern
    Qualifications: Ability to use InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator; samples of work
  • Writing Intern
    Qualifications: Writing samples
  • Administrative Intern
    Qualifications: No experience required

Interns can contribute in the following ways:

  • Writing for our website, newsletter and other collateral
  • Documenting our organization through photography or video
  • Designing marketing and communications materials
  • Providing adminstrative support
  • Updating our website
  • Surveying news and other nonprofit organizations
  • Updating social media accounts
  • Aiding the planning and production of events
  • Select errands
  • Managing volunteer and donor databases
  • Researching various event prep facts, contacts and venues as need arises
