Thanks to a grant, we were able to donate 75 copies of our children’s book, Toby Finds a Home, to SMART Reading! Their program helps children across Oregon build literacy skills and a love of reading through shared story time.
“The Book Bank team has included Toby Finds a Home in our ‘Building Home Library’ bundles that will be distributed to preschool students this fall. These are 10-book bundles, individually curated for each child, that include books that mirror their identity and experiences as well as provide windows into the lives of others, in addition to rhyming books, animal books, and other topics,” wrote Phoebe Petersen of SMART Reading.
We also donated copies to the Oregon Post Adoption Resource Center (ORPARC) Library, which serves foster and adoptive families with a wide range of support services. We’re honored to share Toby’s story of compassion and belonging with both of these incredible organizations.
You can purchase your own copy of Toby Finds a Home on our website at https://bit.ly/3Y8ogUp. Plus, download our free educator guides and volunteer guide for children to keep the conversation going.
The Toby Finds a Home book project has been made possible by a grant from the City of Portland, Office of Community & Civic Life.
