Support Blanchet House through the Light the World Giving Machines at Washington Square Mall, where simple purchases provide meals, shelter, and care for people in need this season.

Blanchet House is honored to be included in this year’s Light the World Giving Machines, a unique and interactive way for the community to support local nonprofits during the holiday season. These bright red “vending machines” allow shoppers to purchase items that are donated directly to organizations serving people in need.

The Giving Machines were officially unveiled on December 16, 2025, at Washington Square Mall during a community celebration attended by actor Jon Heder of Napoleon Dynamite, the Portland Timbers’ Timber Joey, and Oregon Secretary of State Tobias Read. The event marked the start of the Giving Machines’ time in Portland and highlighted the power of collective generosity.

Through January 4, 2026, visitors can use the machines to support Blanchet House by purchasing food, clothing, and other essentials for people experiencing hunger, homelessness, and addiction recovery. Some Giving Machine options also allow donors to support Blanchet Farm programs, including purchasing baby chicks that help sustain the farm and provide meaningful work for residents.

We’re grateful to be part of an initiative that makes giving simple, tangible, and joyful. If you’re visiting Washington Square Mall this season, we hope you’ll stop by the Giving Machines and help bring hope, dignity, and care to our neighbors.
